The spa centre is open since every monday to every saturday
It is a very ancient village whose origin are witnessed by the latin writing sculpted on a travertine marble block at the end of the left wing of the spa centre. The water gushes out from a depth of 1000 meters and at 52° C temperature flowing inside a basin of 49 meters long per 29 meters wide.
It is particularly suggested to heal bones and mucous membranes illnesses since it is rich in Magnesium sulphate and calcium sulphate; moreover it has a healing power about skin apparatus.
Lorenzo il Magnifico and Saint Catherine from Siena healed themselves in those waters (the wonderful porch that faces over the basin has the Saint's name).
SPA WATERS AND HEALING The spa waters of Bagno Vignoni that gush out at a temperature of about 49° C and have carbonate- sulphate-alcaline terrous hyperthermical properties are used by the Spa Centre for healing of bath-therapy, mud therapy and general wealth, useful for care and prevention of many pains:
OSTEOARTHROSIS AND OTHER DEGENERATING FORMS – Osteoarthrosis, diffused arthrosis, Cervical arthrosis, lumbar arthrosis, rheumatisms and other pains of bones and breathing apparatus. The spa centre promotes particular programs for your wealth.
MILLS PARK The Mills Park appears in the urban specific plan of Bagno Vignoni in 1997.
The choice has been motivated by the fact that the system of mills, active until the 1950, has represented a production pole in Bagno Vignoni of great interest, comparable ase per its economic value and productive services to the spa plaints.
Nevertheless being the milling activity less specialistic in relation to the spa one, it has had a minor effect and after the abandonment in 1955 it has soon been forgotten.
The production pole in Bagno Vignoni was as one of the main milling poles in Siena area, particularly strategic for Orcia Valley always voted to cereals growing but poor in water.
Bagno Vignoni mills, just for their providing with spa water, could work 12 months a year.
Their importance is witnessed by the fact that the ancient images of Bagno Vignoni represent by the same attention and the same detail both the village and the basin with the sources and the spa buildings and the cliff with small lakes, the natural tanks and the mills.
