Many scientists and literary men in any time have studied and written about the singularity and beauty of the land of Tuscan Tevere Valley, but even and above all about the link between the population, their condition and the land they belong to; just think about Leonardo da Vinci who included that area in his map at the borderline of Valdichiana.
That land can be defined a "Midland": in the middle of Italy, in the middle between Tirreno and Adriatico seas, in the middle of the mounty borderlines between Toscana, Marche, Umbria and Romagna regions, but above all amid the the Renaissance art of Piero della Francesca painter and Michelangelo Buonarroti sculptor and the flavours that melt there together and influence one other, by defining geographically and culturally a well defined area and with its own historical and social identity.
The history told generation by generation suggests even far magic signs.
The production of cheese production is very aged if you think that already in the monasteries from Camaldoli to La Verna you knew their secrets.
The natural pastures do not miss and the varieties of grass that grow there do not serve only to make excellent cheese (pecorino, cottage cheese and raviggiolo) or as a pasture for cattle breeding of Chianina cow that extend up to Sestino or arond the monumental plateaux of Simone and Simoncello rocks but they are picked up even by man who use them to prepare tasty and strenghtening wild salads.
Some firms with an international fame have found natural treasures in that area: these are herbs, spices and their derivations, the most important product of the herboristic-pharmaceutical industry.
The cow meat of that area is certainly among the most known and tasty ones, but you don't have to avoid the game that live in the thick forests of the Tuscan Tevere Vallley surrounding mountains (hares, pheasants, wild boars, deers, roes...).
Even the chestnuts from Caprese Michelangelo village, the original land of Michelangelo Buonarroti, are important as well as the Prugnolo mushroom.

In the Tuscan Tevere valley you can visit even the medieval Anghiari that still preserves its historical origin and it the scenario of events linked to food and wine.
Eventually, even the charcoal burner is a symbol of that area: charcoal and brown coal have had a fundamental role in the past in that area, as fuel to heat yourself but above all as exchange goods.
