This oldest parts of the Castello di Modanella were built in the 12th century by the noble Cacciaconti family. In a later period, the Piccolomini family counts inhabited the castle for hundreds of years. The Modanella estate extends over no fewer than 638 hectares in the province of Siena. Modanella can now offer to its Clients a wide selection of apartments situated in the various houses all located within 1 km far from the Castle. All the houses have maintained their original names: Vignacce, Forcone, Voliere, Casone, Casino di Modanella, Sanità and Montagna.
