The charme of a natural unpolluted environment, able to evoke images and sensations that come from far times, so far that you can lost yourself in the mists of times.
As they were known ever since the Roman eve the gelid water of Bagno di Cetica were the stage for pilgrimages during the whole very Catholic Middle Age.
In particular they would achieve their feature of "miracle waters" in the 11th century when two Saints of the valley would meet there: Saint Romualdo and Saint Giovanni Gualberto.
Those two Saints, as they would go to Bagno di Cetica to satisfy their own thirst and not aware one of each other, they saw the Spirit of a third Saint appearing: saint Romolo, with whom they blessed those waters to give them "miraculous" power.
The water of Bagno di Cetica, further to a landslide disappear in 1205 and then they came up after 481 years in 1686; with the reappearance of waters the pilgrimage to the spa started again.
Since then this keep on occurring up to nowadays. A witness of the fervid fiath in "healthy and miraculous vertues" of that water is the presence of a Stone Chapel that is surrounded by very tall firs and merged in the green meadows it is voted to Saint Romolo.
Inside that you can still see the pictorial commemoration of the meeting of the three Saints as well as it is told by tradition.
The chapel was built up in memory of a much larger building and of which you cannot find a trace.
In the same place, as a matter of fact, in 16th century a Vallombrosan monastry was built up with a Church annexed dedicated to Saint Romolo and Saint Giovanni Gualberto.
A Hotel Restaurant, a large stone cottage, was built in 1800 to collect the very fresh waters
of the ancient source in some basins and to allow the practice of the spa healthcares; in fact nowadays they host that "Bagno di Cetica", a stage of many pilgrimages.
The ancient bathrooms, as a matter of fact, as they are preserved in their original structure dated of about 1850, are placed on the ground floor of the Hotel Restaurant and face over the backyard. There are waters of 6°C-8°C, very pure and fresh whose terapeutic skills, as you could see, have been told for ages.
The Bagno di Cetica waters, as a matter of fact, according to the tradition are healthy and curative if you drink them but above all if they are "taken by bath". The curative water, the healthy air and the beauty of landscape make the place Bagno di Cetica a place suitable for rest and relax in a still unpolluted environment.
It lays only 50 km far from Firenze and 40 km far from Arezzo. The Bagno di Cetica is the suitable place where you can stay and start againg discovering the most important Art centres all over Toscana.
