At the Antica Querciolaia spa centre, now as in the past, water is the undisputed protagonist of the structure. Indeed, it even influences and shapes the architectural aspects in their forms and colours.
The original nucleus and heart of today’s spa complex, built in the second half of the XIX century, illustrates the unbreakable tie with its springs: its very particular horseshoe form was designed to actually embrace it, almost as if wanting to protect it.
The use – both externally and internally – of travertine with its warm tones and millenary veining, makes one think of a world that owes everything to its waters.
But the history of the facility also tells about an illustrious guest, Giuseppe Garibaldi, that benefited from the healing properties of our spring and there he came to treat the after-effects of a wound reported in the Battle of Aspromonte.
All these aspects representing the historical memory of the facility, are today embodied in an avant-garde structure, recently enhanced and enlarged according to principles of functionality and hospitality.
Besides several pools and a well-equipped wellness centre, the spa complex is also home to the Winter Garden, a large heated hall immersed in a park of secular trees where one can relax or enjoy typical local food products coming from biological plantations, selected for our guests by the experts of our "Foyer delle Terme".
