The white vine Moscato has very ancient origins. It is spreaded over the Sardinian regions covered with vineyards and it is featured for its primary aroma, called just “moscato”.
The Moscato vine was very well known at the Roman eve when it was called “vitis apiana”, that is grape for bees, because these insects are easily attracted by its very sweet taste; anyway, since it is very diffused, it could have reached the Sardegna island even in a pre-roman eve.
In Sardegna it is known even by the dialectal name of “Muscadella”, reported by Manca dell’Arca and “Muscadeddu” or “Muscau” from Moris. By the Moscato vine tilled in Sardegna island you obtain three DOC wines, whose 2 are in the province of Sassari, the Moscato from Cagliari, sweet, natural or liqueur, the Moscato from Sorso Sennori, important for it is a natural sweet liqueur and eventually the Moscato from Sardegna “Spumante” (sparkling wine), from which you have the under-name “Tempio” or “Gallura”.
